Born May 20, 1921, he was the son of Frederick L. and Anna L. (Norris) Bloom. Mr. Bloom was the owner/operator of the Century Farm and was a farmer most of his life. He had also worked for American Welding in Ohio for 5 years, Piper Aircraft in the tool and die department for 13 years and Crescent Brick for 13 years as a kiln fireman.
He was a U S Army Air Corp Veteran of the Second World War serving as an Airplane Mechanic. He was a life member of Post 842 Curwensville VFW, Post 505 Curwensville American legion and the Curwensville Rescue Hose and Ladder Co. He was also a member of the Curwensville L.O.O.M., the Clearfield County Historical Society and the Curwensville-Pike Township Historical Society. He was involved with compiling the “Bloom” Family History
On February 8, 1946 in Curwensville, he wed the former Elsie M. “Mickie” Harmic who preceded him in death on June 23, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a sister Ester Grimes, 2 brothers Fred and Donald Bloom and a grandson Michael Conley.
Surviving are 2 daughters Cheryl Conley and husband Robert and Linda Brocious and husband Roger both of Curwensville, two grandchildren Valerie Prave and husband Marc of Curwensville and Matthew Brocious and wife Beth of Lillington, NC and 5 great grandchildren Natalia, Madeline and Walter Brocious of Lillington, NC and Aubrey and Olivia Prave of Austin, TX.
Also surviving is a sister-in-law Genevieve Bloom of Curwensville and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Ai “Bud” Bloom will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Wednesday October 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Richard Steuernagle officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Curwensville.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday October 2 from 5 to 8 PM, and again on Wednesday from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM.
