Obituary for Albert (Pipe) Carfley
Albert “Pipe” Carfley, of Curwensville, passed away Tuesday morning January 26, 2016 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital.
 
Born in Curwensville, PA, he was the son of Patsy and Katherine (Barbato) Carfley.  Mr. Carfley was the co-owner and operator of Curwensville Distributing Co. for over 40 years, retiring in 1990 and had also worked at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville.  He was a US Marine Corp Veteran of the Second World War having received a Purple Heart.
 
He was a member of St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville, a former elected member of the Curwensville Area School District Board of Directors, a life member of the former Curwensville Sons of Italy and a Life Member of the Rescue Hose and Ladder Company in Curwensville.  He was also a member of Family Center #268 Curwensville L.O.O.M., Post 842 Curwensville Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 505 Curwensville American Legion, and Aerie Lodge #812 Clearfield Fraternal Order of Eagles, was an avid sponsor of Curwensville Area Youth Sports teams and activities and was Curwensville’s #1 University of Notre Dame sports fan.  
 
On August 17, 1957 he wed the former Margaret “Peggy” Morgan who survives along with 3 children.  J. Rick Carfley and wife Rhonda and Cindy Donahue and husband Dave both of Curwensville and Bryan Carfley and wife Melissa of Marian, SC.
 
He is also survived by 7 grandchildren Dana, Andrew, Katie, Adam, Zach, Alexa, and Ryan and 7 great grandchildren Addison, Wyatt, Aiden, Brady, A.J., Chase and Bella.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers Mose, Louis, Samuel, Raymond, Michael, and Tony and 2 sisters Bessie and Elizabeth.  He was the last member of his generation.
 
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville on Friday January 29, 2016 at 10 AM with Reverend Father Mark J. Mastrian as Celebrant.  Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park in Hyde, PA. 
 
Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville, PA on Thursday January 28 from 5 to 8 PM, and again on Friday from 9AM until 9:45 AM, when the procession will depart for the church.  The Rosary will be recited by members of St. Timothy Altar and Rosary Society Thursday at 4:45 PM and a scripture Vigil service will be conducted Thursday at 7:45 PM, both at the funeral home.
