Born December 10, 1928 in Bigler, he was the son of Ross Biddle and Stella Roberta (Fulton) Eshelman. Mr. Eshelman was retired from the former Clearfield Cheese Co, in Curwensville after 44 years as the Personnel Supervisor and was co-owner of D L & E Trucking for 15 years.
After retiring from the Cheese Co., he drove van for Samuel Ardary transporting children to the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf in Pittsburgh for 15 years, had done maintenance for the former Beard Oil Co and from 1988 to the present was employed by the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville & Clearfield.
He was a U S Army Veteran of the Korean War, was affiliated with the Curwensville Presbyterian Church, was a life member of the Curwensville VFW Post 842, was a former member of the Curwensville American Legion, and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Oak Hill Cemetery Association.
On February 13, 1954 in Sharon, PA, he wed the former Jeanne Shaw who survives along with five children. John Eshelman and wife Susan of Woodland Hills, CA, Edward “Buck” Eshelman and wife Margaret, Linda Lansberry and husband Dean and Suzie Irwin and husband Brian all of Curwensville and Nancy Condon and husband Matthew of Clearfield.
Also surviving are 5 grandchildren: Daniel and Dustin Luce of Clearfield, Maxwell Condon and wife Jessica of Pittsburgh, Stephanie Cox and husband Jake of Houston, TX, and Holly Grecco and husband Eric of Brockway, five step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren Sam and Eli Cox, 7 step great grandchildren, and a brother Thomas Eshelman of Logan, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers Stanley, James, Raymond and Robert Eshelman and a sister Mary Jane Eshelman.
Services for Mr. Eshelman will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Sunday December 31, 2017 at 2:00 PM, with the Reverend Stephen D. Shields officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Curwensville.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday December 30 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and again on Sunday from 1 PM until time of services at 2 PM.
Military Honors will be accorded at the funeral home.
