Obituary for Alice A. Rader Laird
Alice A. Rader Laird, 89, a guest at Mt. laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clearfield, and formerly of Clearfield and Hyde, passed away Monday May 21, 2012 at the Center.
 
Born May 10, 1922 in Elnora, PA, she was the daughter of Clair and Mary Elizabeth (Bietz) Shaffer.  She had retired from the Bayer Clothing Group, Fletcherville Plant, and had volunteered many years at the Mercy Mission and the Clearfield Food Bank.
 
Alice was first married to LeRoy “Hoppy” Rader on January 16, 1939 and who preceded her in death after 50 years of marriage.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, three sons Lewis, Charles, and Henry Rader, a grandson Charles Rader Jr., a sister Dolly Updike, and three brothers Lloyd, Lewis, and Joseph Shaffer.
 
She then wed Merrill Laird who survives along with a daughter Mary E. Neeper and her husband Howard of Hyde, a daughter-in-law Sharon Gray of Edgewater, FL.  Also surviving are 9 grandchildren Ronald Neeper and wife Polly of Clearfield; Randell Neeper, Robert Neeper and wife Cindy, and Jess Neeper and wife Marcella all of Hyde; Theresa Treantafellou of New Jersey; Joyce Sweitzer of Killen, TX; Bonnie Green of Indiana, PA; Henry J. Rader Jr. and Sherry Rader both of Edgewater, FL; 19 Great Grandchildren and 12 Great Great Grandchildren.
 
In addition she is survived by eight step children Patty Dietrich; Rick, Kenneth, Greg and Michael laird; Tammy Buck; Penny Wisor; and Pam Lambert.
 
Funeral Services for Mrs. Laird will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc.  16 N. Front St. Clearfield, on Thursday May 24, 2012 at 1:00 PM, with the Reverend Kenneth Pry officiating.
 
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 AM, until time of services.
 
The family suggests contributions be made to either the Hospice Circle of Friends c/o 286 Pauline Drive Clearfield, PA 16830 or the Clearfield Food Bank.
