Obituary for Andrew Donald "Andy" Evanko
Andrew Donald “Andy” Evanko, 64, of Curwensville, passed away Wednesday June 5, 2019 at his residence after a lengthy illness.

Born May 1, 1955 in Clearfield, he was the son of Andrew A. and Rose Agnes (Mayersky) Evanko. He was a 1973 graduate of Curwensville Area High School and received his B.S. Degree from Dickinson’s College in Carlisle, PA. He first was employed as a customer advocate and salesperson for Target Sportswear and then by the Curwensville School District, first in the Guidance Department and currently as the Food Service Manager. He was a member of St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville.

Mr. Evanko has been involved in the football program in the Curwensville School District for 35 years, starting with doing films, then under coach Lyle Domico coached the Junior High Program and then as an assistant varsity coach for both Lyle Domico and Alan Nichol, taking the head coaching position in 2000. During his head coaching career, he led the Golden Tide Football Program to 150 victories.

On November 21, 1987 he wed the former Tina M. Malone who survives along with 2 daughters Patricia Evanko of Luthersburg and Desiree Singer and husband Bill of Clearfield. Also surviving is a granddaughter Brooklynn Knepp of Curwensville and a brother John Evanko of Curwensville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Donald Andrew Evanko.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Andrew Evanko will be Celebrated at St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville on Monday June 10, 2019 at 10:30 AM, with the Reverend Father A. Stephen Collins as Celebrant. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park in Hyde.

Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Sunday June 9, 2019 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, and again on Monday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM, when we will prepare to go to the church.

The family suggests contributions be made to either the Andrew Evanko Memorial Scholarship Fund and sent to the Curwensville Area School District/Paul Carr Business Manager 650 Beech Street Curwensville, PA 16833 or Orphans of the Storm 412 Hill Street Curwensville, PA 16833.
