Obituary for Anne Laele McCartney
Anne Laele McCartney, 89, of Walltown, Grampian RD, passed away early Monday morning March 14, 2011 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center, West.
Born April 11, 1921 in Manahawkin, NJ, she was the daughter of Michael and Mary (Kovach) Jarossy. Mrs. McCartney was retired as an Instructional Assistant for the Handicapped in the Bensalem School District. She had attended both the Nazareth Academy and the Bucks County Community College.
She was a former member of St. Ephrems Roman Catholic Church and also the Altar and Rosary Society of the church, a former member of St. Charles Roman Catholic Church and also the Sodilaty Guild in Bensalem, PA, and is a member of St. Bonaventure’s Roman Catholic Church in Grampian where she is a member and past president of St. Theresa’s Guild.
On September 6, 1942 in Barnegat, NJ, she wed Neil W. McCartney who survives along with 4 children. Cheryl Doherty and her husband Robert of New Park, PA, Neil McCartney Jr. and his wife Teresa of Sewell, NJ, Michael McCartney and his wife Sharon of Collegeville/Grampian, PA, and Kevin McCartney and his wife Vickie of Owensboro, KY. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Sister Carole McCartney I.H.M., four sisters Barbara McCue, Julia Bunnell, Mary Gatton, and Libby McCartney, an infant sister Elizabeth Jarossy, and two brothers Stephen and Michael Jarossy. She was the last member of her generation.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure’s Roman Catholic Church, Main Street Grampian, PA on Thursday March 17, 2011 at 10:00 AM, with the Reverend Father Mark J. Mastrian as celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Bonaventure’s Cemetery Grampian, PA
Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. 300 State St. Curwensville, PA on Wednesday March 16 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM and again on Thursday from 9 to 9:30 AM, when the procession will depart for the church
The Rosary will be recited by members of St. Theresa’s Guild on Wednesday at 3:00 PM and a Scripture Vigil Service will be conducted at 8:00 PM Wednesday, both at the funeral home.
