Curwensville: Arlen D. “Tud” Vaughn, 78, of Curwensville, passed away late Wednesday evening, March 25, 2009 at the Altoona Regional Medical Center, Altoona Hospital Campus.

Born November 2, 1930 in Curwensville, he was the son of Stuart and Mabel C. (Swatsworth) Vaughn. Mr. Vaughn had been employed at the former Wayne Addleman Garage in Curwensville, and was a co-owner of T & J Mobile Home Park in Hyde, PA.

He was a member of the Curwensville Alliance Church, had managed Little League Teams in the Curwensville Little League, had participated as a player in Mountain League Baseball, and had been a leader in the Boys Brigade-Boys Scouts in the former Calvary Baptist Tabernacle in Curwensville.

On November 5, 1949 in Curwensville, he wed the former Nancy Lippert who survives along with 2 sons. Douglas Vaughn and his wife Linda of Orlando, FL, and Rick Vaughn and his wife Debbie of Curwensville. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, a brother Gerald Vaughn and his wife Ruth of Trenton, FL, and a sister Jean Sass and her husband James of Curwensville.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services for Mr. Vaughn will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville, on Wednesday April 1, 2009 at 2:00 PM, with the Reverend Stephen Shields officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville, PA.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday March 31 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM, and Wednesday from 12 Noon until time of services.

The family suggests contributions be made to either the Curwensville Alliance Church of the Clearfield County S.P.C.A.
