Obituary for Betty Louise Mays
Betty Louise Mays, 86, of Glen Richey passed away Thursday May 19, 2016 at Knickerbocker Villa in Clearfield.
Born September 19, 1929 in Olanta, Lawrence Township, she was the daughter of Robert S. and Helen (Milliron) Rowles. Mrs. Mays was a registered nurse having retired from the Clearfield Hospital and had also worked for the Red Cross Bloodmobile and the Glen Richey QRS.
To her children she was the "Best Mom", she was a member of the Primitive Methodist Church in Glen Richey, the Red Cross Bloodmobile, the Curwensville Women of the Moose, the Glen Richey Volunteer Fire Department and QRS and a former member of the Eastern Star.
On July 3, 1951 she wed Darrell Mays who preceded her in death on January 21, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a grandson Craig Lee Mays and a brother Robert “Pete” Rowles.
Surviving are 9 children: Jerry Mays and wife Debbie, Jenny Reinke and husband Alex, Roger Mays and wife Jenny, Leslie Mays and wife Lisa and William Mays and wife Joyce all of Olanta RD, Cindy Hale and husband Charles of New Millport, Penny Jo Blickley of Lake Wylie, SC, Michael Mays and wife Cindy of Middlesex, NC and David Mays and wife Lorie of Curwensville.
Also surviving are 23 grandchildren Jason, Wendy, Damon, Charlotte, Chuck, Christina, Michelle, Angie, Justin, Sara, Susan, Catherine, Joseph, Jacqueline, William II, Matthew, Melissa, Michael Jr., Katelyn, Tyler, Rickie, Devon and Reese. In addition there are 30 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, a sister Gloria “Skip” Hoover and husband Donald of Curwensville and a sister-in-law Ruth Ellen Bressler of Curwensville.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Mays will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Tuesday May 24, 2016 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Duane Stiner officiating.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday May 23 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and again on Tuesday from 10 AM until time of services. A Women of the Moose Memorial Service will be conducted by members of the Curwensville Family Center #268 on Monday evening at 5:45 PM
