Obituary for Cecilia Eperjessy Dutra
Cecilia Eperjessy Dutra, 100, of Grampian passed away late Sunday evening November13, 2016 at Christ The King Manor in DuBois after a brief illness.
Born February 5, 1916 in Johnstown, she was the daughter of Stephen and Mary (Gyurisin) Eperjessy. Cecilia was a homemaker, a member of St. Bonaventure Roman Catholic Church in Grampian where she was a long-term Sacristan, coordinator of Religious Education, a member of St. Theresa Guild and the church choir, was a den mother for the Boy Scouts of America, was a long-term caregiver to many family and friends and also a member of the Grampian Community Choir. She also had a tremendous talent and love for art for which she was recognized on multiple occasions.
She wed James Allison Dutra on February 18, 1941 and who preceded her in death in 1963. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons Richard and Dyke Dutra, a brother Dr. Ernest Eperjessy and two child siblings Ibolya and Stephen Eperjessy.
Surviving is a son Joel Dutra and wife Rebecca “Becky” of Grampian, 5 grandchildren in whom she was very proud: Dr. Diana Dutra Peters and husband Andrew of Rockton, Christina Dutra Cummings and husband Adam of Curwensville and Heather Dutra Mendoza, Jacob Dutra and Richard Dutra all of TN as well as a sister Charlotte Varner age 106 of DuBois, a daughter-in-law Sherry Dutra of Baxter, TN and a nephew Robert Eperjessy of San Jose, CA.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Bonaventure Roman Catholic Church in Grampian on Thursday November 17, 2016 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Father Mark J. Mastrian as Celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Grampian.
Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Wednesday November 16 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. A Rosary will be recited by members of St. Theresa Guild on Wednesday at 2:45 PM at the funeral home.
The family suggests contributions be made to St. Bonaventure Roman Catholic Church 461 Main Street, P.O. Box F Grampian, PA 16838.
