Obituary for Clarence Robert Fledderman
Clarence Robert Fledderman, 100, of Hyde, passed away Sunday July 26, 2015 at the Clearfield Hospital.
 
Born March 9, 1915 in St. Marys, he was the son of Fred and Mary (Gradl) Fledderman.  Mr. Fledderman retired from Pure Carbon Co. in St. Marys as a foreman in the Samples Department.  Mr. Fledderman assisted in the design and creation of the steering mechanism for the lunar rover for the NASA Space Program.
 
He was a Captain in the US Army serving in the European Theater during World War II. was a member of St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville, was a member of the John Lewis Shade Post 6 Clearfield American Legion, the St. Marys Council Knights of Colombus, loved the outdoors and camping, and was an avid railroad enthusiast.
 
He was first wed to the former S. Bernice (Johnson) who preceded him in death on September 30, 1982; he then wed the former Pauline (Malone) who preceded him in death on November 21, 1996.  He was also preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter Amy Fledderman, siblings Mary Wittman, Patsy Smith, Carl Fledderman, Fred “Fritz” Fledderman, Herbert Fledderman and Frances Fledderman, a stepson Paul Malone and 2 step grandchildren.
 
On June 12, 1998, he wed the former Mine’ (Farnsworth) Edwards who survives along with his 4 sons.  William Fledderman of Kissimmee, FL, Robert Fledderman and wife Anne of Midlothian, VA, Lawrence Fledderman and wife Pennie of Titusville, and Daniel Fledderman and wife Colleen of Newtown Square.
 
Also surviving are 4 stepchildren from his 2nd marriage Mark, Shawn, Laura, and Linda and 4 stepchildren from his current marriage Robert Edwards and wife Linda, Thomas Edwards and wife Sue Ellen, Jane Edwards and David Edwards.  In addition he is survived by 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, numerous step grandchildren, and several step great grandchildren.
 
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville on Friday July 31, 2015 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Father Mark J., Mastrian as celebrant.  Interment will be in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery in St Marys, PA.   Military Honors will be accorded at the cemetery by members of the St. Marys Honor Guard.  
 
Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Friday morning from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM, when the procession will depart for the church.
 
The family suggests contributions be made to either the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging 103 N. Front St. Clearfield, PA 16830 or the Elk County Catholic School System 600 Maurus St. St. Marys, PA 15857.
