DuBois: David Leroy Calhoun, 79, of DuBois, passed away Saturday morning January 3, 2009 at the home of his daughter.
Born October 31, 1929 in Roaring Springs, PA he was the son of William H. and Mary E. (Driver) Calhoun. He was retired from Harbison Walker Brick Yard in Clearfield. He was an active member of the Clearfield Eagles Aeries #812, Clearfield Moose, B.P.O.E #540 and Clearfield S.O.I #189.
He is survived by 8 children, Michael Calhoun of Konawa, OK, Ellen Jane “Peaches” Kurten and her husband Buck of Dubois, Susan DiStefano and her husband Peter of RI, Evelyn Calhoun of Philipsburg, Beverly Fustini and her husband Jeff of Brockway, Rose Campbell and her husband Preston of Osceola Mills, John Calhoun of DuBois, and Coleen Mayhew and her husband Bob of Curwensville. 4 sisters Mary Foster of Wallaceton, Dorothy St. Jean of CA., Patricia Wisor of Mineral Springs, Judith Calhoun, 3 brothers Charles Calhoun of Niagara Falls NY, Richard Calhoun of Lockport, NY, and Herbert Calhoun of Buffalo NY. 33 grandchildren, and 29 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons Roy Allen and David Calhoun Jr., a brother Gayle Patrick, 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Services for Mr. Calhoun will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc of Clearfield on Wednesday January 7, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Reverend David Nagele officiating. Interment will follow in the Centre Cemetery Hyde, PA. Military Honors will be accorded at the cemetery by members of Clearfield American Legion Post No. 6 and the Clearfield Veterans of Foreign Wars F. Michael Sicks Post No. 1785 Honor Guard.
Friends will be received at the Funeral Home on Tuesday January 6, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and on Wednesday from 9AM till the time of services at 11AM.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Clearfield Foundation for Home Health Hospice, P.O. Box 992 Clearfield, PA 16830
