Obituary for David Lewis (Hound Dog) Holland
David Lewis (Hound Dog) Holland, 82, of Curwensville, passed away Friday September 7, 2018 at his residence after a lengthy illness.
Born August 16, 1936 in LeContes Mills, PA, he was the son of David N. and Hanna (Jury) Holland. Mr. Holland had been a heavy equipment operator working in both mining and road construction and also had driven logging trucks.
He was a lifetime member of the Rescue hose and Ladder Co. in Curwensville, a lifetime member of the Curwensville VFW, a member of the Curwensville Legion and a member of the former Curwensville S.O.I.
He enjoyed his dog Frank, he enjoyed playing Cinch and was an avid bird watcher.
On February 18, 1956 in Clearfield, he wed the former Helen M. Kavelak who survives along with 6 sons and a daughter. David L. Holland and wife Melanie of Olanta; Timothy J. Holland and wife Dee, Sammy L. Holland and his significant other Dawn Opaliski, Harry Scott Holland, Dean A. Holland and wife Diane, Robert D. Holland and wife Alicia and Susan R. Lewis and her significant other Bob Hess all of Curwensville and a son-in-law John Skebo of Curwensville
Also surviving are 20 grandchildren: Austin, Steve and wife Becky, Matt and wife Casey, Rachel, Alex, J.D., Jerod, Jacob, Sammy and wife Melinda, Jessica and husband Travis, Lauren, Danielle, Eliza and husband Trevor, Isaac, Logan, Zach, Braden, Jeremiah, Alayna and Jordan, 5 Great Grandchildren: Josh, Brynn, Natalie, Lincoln and Chase.
In addition, he is survived by 7 half siblings: Mike Holland And wife Barb of Chicago, Mark Holland, Matthew Holland and wife Gail, Martin Holland and wife Julie and Julie Rubin and husband Alan all of Texas, Mary Fermillion and husband Dan of Arizona and John Holland of California, a brother-in-law Nick Prave of Lumber City, and a sister-in-law Mary Ann Truitt of Thompsontown as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Sherri Skebo and his stepmother Marcella Holland.
There will be no public visitation. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the Father Howard Neibling Social Hall of St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville on Saturday September 22, 2018 at 12:00 Noon ,i with the Reverend George W. Solley officiating.
The family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Central Clearfield County 108 R North Second Street Clearfield, PA 16830.
