Obituary for David Ray Nicholson
David Ray Nicholson, 75, of Clearfield, passed away Sunday June 14, 2009 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center, West.
Born November 14, 1933 in Grampian, PA, he was the son of Richard Carr and Viola Mae (Turner) Nicholson. Mr. Nicholson had worked for Harbison-Walker Refractories # 3 retiring after 32 years of service. He was a U S Army Veteran of the Korean War, was a member of United Brick and Clay Workers Union Local # 66 having served several terms as Vice President of the Local. He was a member of the American legion Post # 6 Clearfield.
On April 3, 1953, he wed the former Helen Lucille Antes who survives along with 2 daughters and 2 sons; Debra Ann Haines, Cathy Rae Nicholson, David Ray Nicholson Jr. and his wife Renee and Richard “Bud” Nicholson all of Clearfield, 2 grandchildren James Haines Jr. and Patricia Lynn Haines, 4 step grandchildren Jinny Hudson, Leonard Hudson III, Travis Hudson and Nicholas Hudson and a step great grandson Caleb Hudson.
Also surviving are 2 sisters Eva Mae Wolsoncroft of Osceola Mills and June Ina Yatchik and her husband Paul of Mimms, FL.
He was preceded in Death by his parents and 5 brothers: Charles, Robert Lynn, John “Jack”, Bernard Lee, and William “Bill” Nicholson.
Funeral Services for Mr. Nicholson will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Clearfield, on Wednesday June 17, 2009 at 1:00 PM, with the Reverend Rodger J. Gorton, officiating.
Friends will be received at the funeral home in Clearfield on Tuesday June 16 from 6 to 9 PM, and Wednesday from 11 AM until time of services.
Military Honors will be accorded at the funeral home by members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW Joint Honor Guard.
The family suggests contributions be made to either the American Heart Association or the Orphans of the Storm The Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc of Clearfield is in charge of the arrangements.
