Obituary for Diane Renee Decker
Diane Renee Decker, 76 of Clearfield, and formerly of Grampian, passed away Saturday June 25, 2022 at her residence after a lengthy illness.
Born March 1, 1946 in Clearfield, she was the daughter of Ralph and Janet (Phillips) Woodel. Mrs. Decker had first been employed by the former Kent's Sportswear in Curwensville. She then worked for the Curwensville Area School District where she served as secretary to the elementary principal, secretary to the assistant superintendent and as member of the district office staff.
Diane devoted her life to helping others and was very active in the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Grampian. She was a member of the choir, pianist for the Sunday School, having received a certificate for 25 years of service. She also belonged to the United Methodist Women, where she served as president and secretary. She was a vital member of the original Grampian Days Committee and was well known for her Christmas Cookie Ministry, delivering numerous cookie trays to friends, especially shut-ins.
On July 27, 1968 in Grampian, she wed George Decker who survives along with two daughters: Jennifer Opaliski and husband Jay of Curwensville and Janessa Young and husband Bo of Grampian. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Rylee (Young) Keister and husband Preston, Jayce Opaliski, Rachel Young, Haley Opaliski, and Mason Young, a sister Carol Greendoner of Curwensville and a brother Chris Woodel of The Poconos.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister Joan Lee Woodel and a sister Janice McGarry.
Funeral services will be held at the Curwensville Alliance Church, 725 Susquehanna Avenue, Curwensville PA 16833, on Thursday June 30, 2022 at 12:00 Noon with Reverend Stephen D. Shields officiating.
Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Wednesday June 29, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00PM and on Thursday at the church from 11:00AM until time of services at 12:00 Noon.
