Obituary for Dollie Catherine Beckman
Dollie Catherine Beckman, 90, of Olanta, passed away Saturday December 17, 2016 at Penn Highlands Clearfield Hospital after a brief illness.
Born March 8, 1926 in Curwensville, she was the daughter of Blake and Lyda Rachel (Middleton) Swatsworth. Mrs. Beckman was a member of the Olanta Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir, the Olanta Bible Class and the Glen Richey VFC Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed bingo, love to go to the casinos and especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She wed Oscar Beckman in 1942 and who preceded her in death in 1975. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brothers Sherman and Norman Swatsworth, sisters Miriam Bailey and Rosamond Bailor and a son-in-law Robert Smith.
Surviving are three children: L. Ruth Rollin and husband William of Cambridge Springs, PA and Caroline Smith and Fred Beckman and wife Cathy both of Olanta; and six grandchildren: Donald Beckman, Dwayne Rollin, Sonya Bales, Angela Nader, Michelle London and Robert Smith Jr.
Also surviving are eight great grandchildren: Emily Rollin, Hannah and Brianna Nader, Amiya and Jenna Smith and Derek, Devon and Drew London, a brother Clifford Swatsworth of DuBois, a sister Mary Lou Straw of New York and a sister-in-law Josephine Swatsworth of Clearfield.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Beckman will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Tuesday December 20, 2016 at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Richard Steuernagle officiating. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park in Hyde, PA.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday December 19 from 6 to 8 PM and again on Tuesday from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM.
