Obituary for Domenic Sciamanna
Domenic Sciamanna 92, a resident of Greystone of Clearfield and formerly of Curwensville, passed away Wednesday February 13, 2013 at Colonial Courtyard surrounded by his family.
 
Born September 20, 1920 in Camden, NJ, he was the son of Vincenzo and Adelaide (Teodore) Sciamanna.  Domenic spent his childhood in Italy, returning to the United States at age 17.  Mr. Sciamanna apprenticed as a tailor in Italy and spent his entire career in the clothing industry.  He was employed as a clothing designer by Gordon Ford Clothing in Philadelphia for over 10 years and retired from the Target/Bayer Clothing Group after 20 plus years.
 
He was a member of St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville, was a U S Army Veteran of World War II serving with the 503rd Parachute Regimental Combat Team serving in the Pacific Theater, was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the National American Legion, International Association of Clothing Designers and the Clearfield VFW.
 
On October 16, 1948 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmal Church in Camden, NJ, he wed the former Lydia Juliet DiGiosaffatto who survives along with 5 children.  Adele Nurek and husband John of Warminister, PA, Vincent Sciamanna and wife Anna of DuBois, PA,  Annette Muth and husband Bill of Curwensville, PA, Lorraine Jasper and husband John of Indiana, PA, and Domenic Sciamanna Jr. and wife Bridget of Elkton, MD.
 
Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, a brother and 2 sisters - Romeo Sciamanna of Mt. Laurel, NJ, Lillianna Colo and Ada DiAndrea both of Italy and son-in-law John McCaffrey of Myrtle Beach, SC.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Joanne McCaffrey, 3 sisters Pierina Pompey, Rosina Romoni, and Antonia Sciamanna, and a brother Ferdinando Sciamanna.
 
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church, 306 Walnut Street Curwensville, on Monday February 18, 2013 at 10:00 AM, with the Reverend Father Mark J. Mastrian as Celebrant.  Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park in Hyde, PA.
 
Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Sunday February 17 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, and again on Monday from 9 until 9:30 AM, when the procession will depart for the church.
 
The Rosary will be recited at 3 PM Sunday by members of St. Timothy Altar and Rosary Society  and a Scripture Vigil Prayer Services by Father Mastrian will be held at 7:30 PM Sunday, both at the funeral home.  Military Honors will be accorded at the graveside by members of the Clearfield Honor Guard.
 
The family suggests contributions be made to St. Timothy Church, 306 Walnut Street Curwensville, PA 16833.
