Obituary for Donald Jay Bowden
Donald Jay Bowden, 74, of Curwensville, passed away Monday March 10, 2014 at the Clearfield Hospital, after a lengthy illness.

Born August 28, 1939 in Clearfield, he was the son of Myers J. and Sara Marie (Weber) Bowden. Mr. Bowden had worked for the former Sanitary Milk Co. of Curwensville, Lezzer Lumber, and retired from New Castle Battery Co. as a salesman.

He received his Associate Degree in Business from the DuBois Business College, served with the U S Navy during the Cuban Missle Crisis, was a member of the Curwensville Alliance Church, the Curwensville Lions Club, the Curwensville American Legion, the Curwensville VFW, and the Glen Richey Sportsman Club.

On September 6, 1969 he wed Joyce Ann Clark who survives along with a daughter Jennifer Marie Petrosky and her husband Nathaniel of Palmerton, PA, a grandson Micaiah Petrosky. 2 sisters Doris Dale and her husband Joseph of Curwensville, Ellen Louise Britten and her husband Oliver of Altoona and a brother-in-law John Haines of Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant son, and sister Lenore Haines.

Funeral services for Mr. Bowden will be held at the Curwensville Alliance Church on Thursday March 13, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Stephen Shields officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt Zion Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Wednesday March 12, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and on Thursday from 9- 10:30 AM when the procession will depart for the church. The Curwensville Lions Club will hold a Memorial Service on Wednesday at 6 PM at the Funeral Home.
