Obituary for Dorothy Blanche Spencer
Blanche Spencer, 67, of Luthersburg, passed away Friday evening, October 2, 2009 at her residence after a brief illness.
Born December 31, 1941 in Luthersburg, PA, she was the daughter of Wilfred and Lois (Smiley) Rafferty. Mrs. Spencer had worked as a clerk for Shop-n-Save in DuBois, but for most of her life she was an inhome caregiver. She had been Roman Catholic by faith.
On March 26, 1982 she wed James Ronald “Red” Spencer who preceded her in death on April 23, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister Lois Ann Rafferty, and a step grandson John Hess.
Surviving are three children Timothy Joe Robbins and his wife Sonya of Las Vegas, NV, Stacey Lynn Marshall and her fiancée Donald Beamer of Luthersburg, James Herbert Robbins Jr. and his wife Marlene of Reynoldsville, and 4 step children Kathleen Wilson of Grampian, Nancy Hess of Bells landing, Laurie Castagnolo and her husband Joseph of Clearfield and Charles Nicholson.
Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 2 brothers and a sister. Joseph Rafferty and his wife Margaret and Mary Ursula Ferguson and her husband John both of Treasure Lake, and James Allan Rafferty and his wife Carol of DuBois.
A Memorial Service for Mrs. Spencer will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Monday evening October 5, 2009 at 8:00 PM, with the Reverend Donna Boring officiating. Interment will be in the Friends Cemetery, Grampian, PA.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:30 PM until time of services at 8:00 PM.
The family suggests contributions be made to either DRMC Hospice or the Hahne Cancer Treatment Center both at 100 Hospital Avenue DuBois, PA 15801
