Obituary for Dorothy June Bloom
Dorothy June Bloom, 91, of the Dimeling in Clearfield, and formerly of  Faunce, Olanta RD, Passed away Friday December 18, 2009 at her residence.

Born June 18, 1918 in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of Harrry M. and Anna M. (Ellis) Otis.  Mrs. Bloom was retired from the General Cigar Co. in Philipsburg in the Shipping/Packaging Department after 22 years of service.  Prior to that she had been employed by the former MacGregor Shirt Factory in Curwensville.  She attended the First Baptist Church in Clearfield.

She was a former member of the Sanborn Grange #2416, Christian Women’s Club of Philipsburg where she served as Hostess, Former member Rebekah Lodge of Houtzdale, Sanborn U.M.C serving in the Women’s Missionary Association, past president of the PTA Houtzdale,  served on the Woodward Township Election Board, RSVP Volunteer at the Library, she was the Clearfield County Bicentennial Queen,  2003 RSVP Volunteer of the Year for the Historical Society.

She is survived by 2 sons Lawrence G. Bloom and his wife Dr. Audrey D. (Laird) of Round Rock, TX, and Dale G. Bloom, R.N. and his wife Barbara R.N. of Washington. 1 grandson Brian L. Bloom of Portland OR. , and a great granddaughter Chloe Bloom of Columbia MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gurney O. Bloom, and 2 sisters Ethel Delamere Wilcox, and Ruby Fiason.

Funeral Services for Dorothy Bloom will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc of Clearfield, on Tuesday December 22, 2009 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Robert Achey officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 11:00 AM till the time of services at 2:00 PM

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Clearfield County Historical Society 104 East Pine Street Clearfield, PA 16830.
