Pittsburgh: Douglas Aaron Rowles, 72, of Morrisdale, passed away Friday January 2, 2015 at the UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born November 3, 1942 in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of Stacy Aaron and Lillian Louise (Taylor) Rowles. Mr. Rowles was a 1960 graduate of Clearfield Area High School, and a 1964 Graduate of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He taught Spanish at the Windber Area High School and was retired from the University Book Store at Penn State University.

He had attended the Gethsemane United Methodist Church in Allport, was an active member of the Quad County Amateur Radio Club where he currently served on the executive committee and had also served as its past president and treasurer. He enjoyed all Penn State University Sports especially PSU Men’s Basketball.

Surviving are two brothers Larry Rowles and his wife Jeanne of Pittsburgh and Jeffrey Rowles of Morrisdale, a niece Brieana Rowles of Pittsburgh and an Aunt Almeda Wingard of Grampian as well as numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services for Mr. Rowles will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Wednesday January 7, 2015 at 11:00 AM, with the Pastor Ron Emery officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday January 6, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, and again on Wednesday from 10 AM until time of services.
