Earl William “Bill” Walburn, 87, of Grampian, passed away early Tuesday morning October 18, 2022 at his residence.
Born March 21, 1935 in Bloom Township, he was the son of Earl Reuben and Lenore Magdaline (Coon) Walburn. Mr. Walburn was a retired truck mechanic, having worked for several coal companies and was retired from Shaw Mack Sales and Service in DuBois.
He was a member of the Greenville Church of the Brethren, the Brady Township VFD Station 30, the Bilger’s Rocks Association, the Anderson Creek Sportsman’s Club, the Chestnut Grove Sportsman’s Club, the Grampian Lions Club, was Camp Host at the Pymatuning State Park Campground for 10 years, loved to fish and hunt, enjoyed teaching people to hunt and fish, and was Scout Master for Troop #77 for 10 years.
On June 12, 1953 he wed the former Geraldine Elaine Mahlon who preceded him in death on May 26, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his parents; sisters Lucy Welder, Mary Johnson, Emma Ward, and Elsie Emanuelson; and brothers Albert, Franklin, Floyd, and Ralph Walburn. He was the last member of his generation.
Surviving are nine children: Sharon Vaux and husband Ellsworth and Christopher Walburn and wife Debra both of Luthersburg; Marsha Stetser of Swedesboro, NJ; Randall Walburn and wife Diana of Reynoldsville; Lawrence Walburn and wife Karen of Avon, IN; Brenda Ferguson of Grampian; Gail Maag and husband Larry of Horsham; Dennis Walburn and wife Teri of Chestnut Grove; Jeffrey Walburn and wife Kimberly of Brookville; and a special family friend Dr. Earl Morgan and wife Susan of Brockport.
Also surviving are twenty-five grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.
Funeral Services for William Walburn will be held at the Greenville Church of the Brethren * 3995 Greenville Pike * Grampian, PA 16838 on Friday October 21, 2022 at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Brian Spencer officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenville Church Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Thursday October 20, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM and again on Friday at the church from 10:00 AM until time of services at 11:00 AM.
