Dubois: Edith Mary Wheeler 95, of Grampian passed away Monday February 13, 2023 at Christ The King Manor after a lengthy illness.


Born July 3, 1927 in Walltown she was the daughter of Thomas E. and Ann (Clark) McCartney. She was a graduate of St. Francis School in Clearfield. A member of St. Bonaventure Roman Catholic Church in Grampian where she also was a member of St. Theresa’s Guild. She was a homemaker. Using her volunteering spirit she enjoyed praying the rosary at Ridgeview Elder Care, helping with bingo at Marion Manor, delivering meals on wheels and helping with numerous functions at Penn Grampian School. Her greatest love was her family and teaching her grandchildren the rosary, and how to make pies. She was known for her blueberry pies. She enjoyed different crafts, but sewing & quilting were her favorites and she passed on her love of these to others. Later in life she took up playing the accordion and enjoyed playing in talent shows and for her grand kids.


On October 15, 1949 at St. Bonaventure Roman Catholic Church she wed Virgil Wheeler who survives of Grampian. Along with 4 children Richard “Dick” Wheeler (Ginger) of Grampian, Kathy Wheeler of Curwensville and her companion (Gary Moore) of Olanta, Ellen Stoyek (Gary) of Curwensville, and Mary Muller (Peter) of Lebanon. 11 grandchildren Shelly Wriglesworth (Drew), Susie Bloom (Dan), Rick Wheeler (Dawna), Kimberley Seger, Megan Hoover (Cory), Katie Edwards (Arlo), Nicholas Muller and companion (Natalya Walker), Ryan Muller (Rina), Madison Muller, Caroline Muller, Annie Muller. 17 great grandchildren. And a sister Ruth Dunlap of DuBois.


She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson Joseph Wheeler, brothers Lee, Neil, Martin, Pat, Ed, Jim, and Paul. Sisters Margaret Hogan and Ethel Haugen. And 3 step siblings.


Mass of Christian burial will be said at St. Bonaventure Roman Catholic Church, Main St. Grampian on Thursday February 16, 2023 at 1 PM with Rev. Fr. Stephen Collins as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.


Family and friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Wednesday February 15, 2023 from 6-8 PM.


The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Bonaventure Roman Catholic Church c/o St. Timothy Parish 306 Walnut St., Curwensville, PA 16833.
