Edward “Ed” P. Stoyek
 
Clearfield: Edward “Ed” P. Stoyek 87, of Curwensville passed away Wednesday August 27, 2014 at Penn Highlands Clearfield after a lengthy illness.
 
Born May 19, 1927 in DuBois he was the son of George and Veronica (Golla) Stoyek.  He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran.    In 1954 he started the Western Auto in Curwensville which he owned and operated, which then became True Value and he owned and operated that until 1980.  He was a member of the Pulaski Club in Dubois,  Curwensville VFW post # 842, Curwensville American Legion post # 505, Knighs of Columbus council 409 in Clearfield.
 
He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather and enjoyed being active in the Punxsutawney Polka Club with his wife Rose. 
 
He is survived by 2 children Deborah Stoyek and her partner Beth Herr of Harrisburg, and Gary Stoyek and his wife Ellen of Curwensville. 4 grandchildren Megan Hoover and her husband Cory of Clearfield, and Katie Stoyek of Bethesda, MD, Dakota and Corey Herr both of Harrisburg. 1 great grandson Jackson Hoover of Clearfield.
 
He was the last member of his generation.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rose (Cekovsky) Stoyek, a sister Frances Kovach, and 2 brothers Joseph, and Albert Stoyek.
 
Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville on Saturday August 30, 2014 at 10 AM with Rev. Father Mark J. Mastrian as celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Michaels Cemetery in DuBois, PA.
 
Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Friday August 29, 2014 from 5-8 PM and Saturday from 9-9:30  AM when the procession will depart for the church.
 
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311.
