Obituary for Elaine S. Richards

Elaine S. (Sneddon) (Lingle) Richards

Clearfield: Elaine S. (Sneddon) (Lingle) Richards, 88, of Clearfield and formerly of Curwensville passed away Thursday January 16, 2025 at Mountain Laurel Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center of Clearfield.


Born November 13, 1936 in Clearfield she was the daughter of Elmer “Smiley” and Virginia (Straw) Sneddon. She was the Salutatorian of the 1954 class of the Curwensville Area High School. She had worked for 20 years as a Clerical Assistant with the PA Department of Assistance and also worked 10 years as a Financial Analyst for the State of California.


She was a member of the Curwensville Moose Lodge #268, and the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Former member of the Curwensville VFW, and the Clearfield Women’s Club.


Elaine loved her family. She enjoyed singing and enjoyed music especially jazz.


She is survived by 2 sons Ronald M. Lingle (Sandra) of Clearfield, and Gary M. Lingle (Theresa) of DuBois. Seven grandchildren Kylie Rowles (Randy), Alyson Gross (Andrew), Morgan Lingle, Matthew Lingle, Mitchell Stephens (Casey), Zachary Stephens (Kaycee), and Jonathan Stephens and fiance Corri Ramey. And five great grandchildren Jaxson Rowles, Bennett Gross, Claire Gross, Hayes Stephens, and Ellis Stephens.


She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Richards, Daughter Catherine Suzanne Stephens, and a brother Richard Sneddon


Funeral services for Elaine Richards will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc on Tuesday January 21, 2025 at 11 AM with Mr. Gary Jewart officiating. Interment will be in Historic Crown Crest Cemetery.


Family and friends will be received at the Funeral Home on Monday January 20, 2025 from 4-7 PM and on Tuesday from 10 AM till the time of services at 11 AM.


The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society at donate.cancer.org
