Obituary for Elizabeth A. "Tootie" Smay
Elizabeth Alberta “Tootie” Smay, 80, of Bailey Settlement, Clearfield, passed away Sunday morning May 17, 2009 at the Clearfield Hospital.
Born March 30, 1929 in Sanbourn, PA, she was the daughter of Samuel and Dolly (Merritt) Dixon. Mrs. Smay had been a waitress at the former Clearfield Diner, and had been a cook at the Clearfield-Curwensville Country Club. She was a member of the Centre Grove United Methodist Church, Hyde, PA.
On June 30, 1956 in Clearfield, she wed James Smay who survives along with 5 children: James and Harold Smay both of Clearfield, Patricia Hill of Curwensville, Pamela Battle of Delaware, and Mandy Dixon of Clearfield.
Also surviving are 3 grandchildren William, Samantha, and Philip Hill all of Clearfield and two brothers Carl Dixon and his wife Betty of Bigler, and Robert Dixon of North Carolina as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters Sandra Seybold and Betty Louise Smay, and a sister Norma Dixon.
Services for Mrs. Smay will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Wednesday May 20, 2009 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Dr. Randy M. Willis officiating. Interment will be in the Centre Cemetery Hyde, PA.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday May 19 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM, and Wednesday from 9 AM until time of services.
