Obituary for Elizabeth Louise "Betty Lou" Turner
Elizabeth Louise “Betty Lou” Turner, 86, of West Decatur, passed away Sunday January 3, 2021 at Mt. Laurel Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Clearfield.
Born September 11, 1934 in Philipsburg, she was the daughter of Robert Shaw and Margaret (Albert) Shaw. Betty Lou was a homemaker and had worked first for the former W T Grants in Philipsburg and was retired from the former Ames in Philipsburg.
She was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church of West Decatur where she had served as the Pianist/Organist, Choir Director, Youth Leader, Vacation Bible School Director, had served on the Administrative Board, and was a member of the Prayer and Bible Study Groups.
She also was a Cub Scout Den Mother, a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, and was a volunteer for the Boggs Township Election Board.
On August 15, 1962 she wed Leo W. “Pook” Turner who preceded her in death on December 2, 2017. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving are four children: Robert Turner and wife Andrea and Gary Turner and wife Dolly both of West Decatur, Rev. Brenda Leigey and husband Allen of Woodland, and Theresa Krise and husband Russell of West Decatur.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Mindy, Darren, Nathan, Leah, Stacey, Macala, Skyler and Austin; seven great grandchildren: Hannah, Aaron, Taylor, Dylan, Elsie, Evelyn, and Owen; and a great great granddaughter Eliotte Rose.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions there will be no public visitation. Private Graveside Services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Bigler Cemetery.
