Obituary for Ella Madeline (Madie) Read Kubista
Ella Madeline “Madie” Read Kubista, 93, a resident of Loyalhanna Care Center in Latrobe and formerly of Greensburg and Curwensville, passed away Friday May 15, 2015 at the center.
 
Born March 31, 1922 in Lawrence Township, Clearfield County, PA, she was the daughter of Alvin “Duckett” and Lona Alice (McGaughey) Borst.  Mrs. Kubista was a homemaker and was retired from the Curwensville Area School District in the Custodian Department.  She was a member of St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.
 
She was first wed to Homer Read on June 25, 1938 and who preceded her in death on September 19, 1966.  Then on October 25, 1968 she then wed Peter T. Kubista who preceded her in death on October 4, 2002.  In addition she was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters Annie Ogden, Vera Thompson, and Iva Mae Graham, and 3 brothers Robert, James, and LeRoy Borst.
 
Surviving are 2 daughters Sue Leonard and husband Dr. Gene Leonard of Greensburg, PA and Cheryl Custaney and husband Reverend Deacon John Custaney of Morrisdale, PA.  Also surviving are 4 grandchildren: Laura Leonard of Lawrence, PA, Amy Ryder and husband Colonel Patrick Ryder, USAF of Lithia, FL, Cheryl Marie Phillips and husband Bill Phillips of Tyrone, and Christopher Custaney and wife Sue Custaney of Clearfield; 5 great grandchildren: Austin and Christian Ryder and Haley, Connor, and Colby Custaney; as well as a brother Orvis Borst of Glen Richey.
 
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church 306 Walnut St. in Curwensville, PA 16833 on Saturday May 23, 2015 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Father Mark J. Mastrian as Celebrant.  Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park in Hyde, PA
 
Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. 300 State St. in Curwensville, PA 16833 on Friday evening from 4:30 to 8:30 PM, and again on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, when the procession will depart for the church.
 
The Rosary will be recited by members of St. Timothy’s Altar and Rosary Society Friday at 4:30 PM and a Scripture Vigil Services will be conducted at 8:15 PM Friday, both at the funeral home.
 
The family suggests contributions be made to either St. Vincent Seminary 300 Fraser Purchase Road in Latrobe, PA  15650 or St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church 260 Bruno Road in Greensburg, PA  15601
 
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at the Loyalhanna Care Center in Latrobe for their wonderful care of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother during her stay there.
