Ellen Jean Riddle
Clearfield: Ellen Jean Riddle 91 of Curwensville passed away on Thursday November 16, 2023, at the home of her daughter.
Born August 11, 1932, in Morrisdale she was the daughter of Peter and Kathryn (Sabol) Greslick.
She was very active in many clubs and organizations. Dearest to her heart was the American Cancer Society where she served on the board of directors for many years and held the role of president from 1973 – 1975. While serving as President it was the first time Clearfield County topped the goal set by the state for the annual crusade. She started the Red Rose Memorial Program where she was honored by the state division and the program now is nationally known. In 1982-1983 she was chosen as volunteer of the year. She continued to make the bows for the vases for the Red Rose Program in Clearfield County. She was past president of the Curwensville Woman’s Club. She enjoyed helping others and was head of Home Life where for many years she ensured shut ins and the needy were provided meals at Thanksgiving and Christmas. She was active in Senior Extension having served on various committees as well as being secretary and treasurer. She was also past president of the Agriculture Extension Association and was an original member of the Curwensville BPW. She was known for making the best peanut butter fudge and especially loved making and giving it to others.
She is survived by four children David J. Riddle (Pam) and Kathryn M. Coudriet (Boyd) all of Curwensville. LuEllen Bowman of Clearfield, and Robin A. DeShaw (Chuck) of Punta Gorda, FL. Nine grandchildren Stephanie Polito (Bill), Dr. Chris Riddle (April) Heather Pleskonko (George), Ryan Coudriet (April), Mindy Bowman, Katie Ceprish (Scott) BJ Tucker (Brian), Jessica Crouse (Joe), JoEllen Morris (Rhett). Eight great grandchildren Mia, Evie, Jack, Ella Mae, Connor, Aiden, Saige, and Cerik. Brother and Sisters Mary Lou Kavelak, Shirley Neff, Betty Owens, Dorothy Fletcher, Dick Greslick (Linda), and Tom Greslick (Becky).
She was preceded in death by her husband John W. “Jack” Riddle, parents, infant grandson Derek DeShaw, sister Anna Bell Marsh, and a brother Bobby Greslick.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
