Obituary for Elva Josephine Russell
Elva Josephine Russell, 90, a guest of Christ The King Manor Nursing Home and formerly of Hyde and Grampian, passed away Sunday March 6, 2011 at the nursing home.
Born August 12, 1920 in Hepburnia, she was the daughter of Lloyd and Sadie (Meckley) McCracken. Ms. Russell had worked for Kent’s Sportswear and Bayer/Target Clothing group first as a seamstress, then a supervisor, a trainer and then finally finished in the Sample Department. She was a member of the Hepburnia United Methodist Church Grampian, PA
Surviving are 3 children: Kenneth L. Russell of Hyde, Lawrence “Mickey” Russell and his wife Janice of Whetstone, AZ, and Susan Truscott and her husband Alan of DuBois. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 brothers Irvin McCracken of Akron, Ohio and Willard McCracken and his wife Jean of Hepburnia
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son William Russell, a brother Russell McCracken and a sister Lena Barrett.
Funeral Services for Ms. Russell will be held at the Chester C, Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Wednesday March 9, 2011 at 1:00 PM, with the Reverend Emmett Anderson officiating. Interment will be in the Friends Cemetery Grampian, PA.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday March 8 from 4 to 8 PM, and Wednesday from 11 AM until time of services.
The family suggests contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Western PA Chapter 1100 Liberty Avenue Suite E-201 Pittsburgh, PA 15222
