Obituary for Erma A. Reed
Erma A. Reed, 92, of Woodland, passed away Sunday morning, December 18, 2011 at the Clearfield Hospital.

Born October 25, 1919 in Johnstown, she was the daughter of Curtis C. and Lillian (Nagel) Stiffler. She had worked as a secretary for Berwin and White Coal Co. in Windber, as a secretary and claims person for the Bituminous Insurance Co., was also a secretary for Cook Enterprises and also had worked as a clerk in the Joseph and Elizabeth Shaw Public Library thru the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging.

She was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church in Woodland, was a member of the Sunshine Circle of the Church, and was a member of the Degree of Honor Protective Association Johnston Chapter. She was a 1937 graduate of the Dale Boro High School in Johnstown.

Surviving is a daughter Susan vonGunden and her husband David of Clearfield, 7 grandchildren Christiana Stevenson of Paducah, KY, Allan Richard Haff, Emily vonGunden and Max vonGunden all of Clearfield and Sophia, Whitney, and Ashley Reed all of Hyde.

Also surviving are 4 great grandchildren Leah, Kara, and Katie Stevenson and Aliah Haff and 2 great nieces Donna Bailey of Shellsburg and Sheila Slimmer of Wyomissing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son John Richard Reed, 2 grandchildren John Richard Reed Jr. and Walter Ian Reed, and 2 sisters Lillian Rietz and Helen Noon. She was the last member of her generation.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Reed will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc., 16 North Front Street, Clearfield, PA on Wednesday December 21, 2011 at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Sean Patrick Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown, PA.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday December 20 from 3 to 7 PM, and Wednesday from 10 AM until time of services.
