Obituary for Francis (Feo) Carfley
Francis “Feo” Carfley, 97, of Clearfield and formerly of Philipsburg and Curwensville, died Monday, April 20, 2015 at Penn Highlands Clearfield Hospital, Clearfield.
Born April 11, 1918 in Curwensville, he was the son of the late John and Rufina (Finelli) Carfley
He married Mary Louise Cullen on July 31, 1940. She preceded him in death on Sept. 19, 2012, ending 72 years of marriage.
Mr. Carfley is survived by a son, John R. (Ruth Ann) Carfley of Philipsburg and a daughter, Janice L. (Thomas) Goss of South Carolina. Also five grandchildren, Peter, Stephanie, David, Natalie and John; and two great-grandchildren, Cash and Jonah.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers Charlie, Mike, Leonard and Orlando; and sisters Mary, Genevieve, Julia, Elda, Jenny and infant twin sisters.
Mr. Carfley was the last member of his generation.
He was a member of St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church, Curwensville.
He was employed as a laborer at North American Refractories for 42 years before his retirement. He was an avid hunter and his hobbies included furniture refinishing and metal detecting.
Friends will be received at Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc., 300 State St., Curwensville, on Friday, April 24, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., where a Vigil service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Friends will also be received on Saturday, April 25 from 9 a.m. until the procession departs for the church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 25 at 10 a.m. at St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church, Curwensville, with the Rev. Mark Mastrian as celebrant.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Carfley’s name to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
