Obituary for Frederick Earl "Fred" Lingle
Frederick Earl “Fred” Lingle, 83, of Clearfield, passed away Saturday December 23, 2017 at Penn Highlands Clearfield Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born December 23, 1934 in Clearfield, he was the son of Earl W. and Verda (Giles) Lingle. For most of his working career he was a linesman for Penelec/First Energy and in the last years of his employment he did maintenance for Penelec/First Energy. He was a 1952 graduate of Clearfield High School.
He was a member of the Clearfield B.P.O.E. Lodge #540, a member of the former Third Ward Fire Co. in Clearfield and a life member of the Clearfield Vol. Fire Dept., a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and a member of the Clearfield Lodge F. & A. M.
On June 4, 1994 in Clearfield, he wed the former Barbara J. Clark who survives along with 2 sons. Ronald Lingle and wife Sandy of Clearfield and Gary Lingle and wife Theresa of DuBois. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, a great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Cathy Suzanne Stephens and a sister Doris Reed. He was the last member of his generation.
Services for Fred Lingle will be held at the Clearfield Presbyterian Church 119 N. Second Street Clearfield, PA on Saturday December 30, 2017 at 11:00 AM, with Mr. Richard Barkley officiating. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park in Hyde, PA.
Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Clearfield on Friday December 29 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
B.P.O.E. Lodge # 540 will conduct Elk Memorial Services Friday evening at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
The family suggests contributions be made to the Clearfield Presbyterian Church 119 N. 2nd Street Clearfield, PA 16830.
