Obituary for Gary Lee Bloom
Gary Lee Bloom, 74, of Curwensville, passed away early Wednesday morning February 5, 2020 peacefully at his home.
Born December 15, 1945 in Hyde, PA, he was the son of William E. “Bill” and Ruth (Blackburn) Bloom. He grew up in Hyde, PA and was a graduate of Clearfield Area High School Class of 1964.
Gary was a sheet metal worker for TAFCO Company in Hyde for 23 years, he owned and operated the former Waterfront Deli/SixPak in Clearfield and most recently worked maintenance for the Curwensville Area School District and the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center (CCCTC). He had also worked for Errigo Distributing in Curwensville.
He was an avid rifle hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed camping, canoeing, golfing, gardening and enjoyed watching the deer and birds just like his father did. He was a devoted sports enthusiast, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates and Penn State Football and Wrestling.
He was a member of the Clearfield American Legion Post #6, the Curwensville VFW Post 842, and Curwensville L.O.O.M. 268, the Sheet Metal Union and the Chinklacamoose Canoe Club.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Sandra L. Bloom; his oldest son William G. Bloom and wife Linda J. of Hyde; his daughter Lorie A. Ream and fiancée Mark Riek of Indiana, PA; son Garrick L. Bloom of Shippensville, PA; a sister Sharon Porter of Hyde; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services for Gary Bloom will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Saturday February 8, 2020 at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Gary B. Jewart officiating
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday February 7 from 5 PM until 8 PM and again on Saturday from 1 PM until time of services at 2 PM.
The family suggests contributions be made to either Squirrel Tails for Trout c/o Mr. Patrick Domico 688 Washington Avenue Curwensville, PA 16833 or any Curwensville Sports/Music Booster Club at the Curwensville Area High School.
