Obituary for George Irvin Passmore
George Irvin Passmore, 84, of Redden Hill, Bells Landing, passed away Saturday evening January 19, 2013 at his residence.
Born November 4, 1928 in Bells Landing, Greenwood Township, he was the son of George Hall and Sarah Viola (Anderson) Passmore. Mr. Passmore worked as a heavy equipment mechanic, first for Clearfield Equipment in Clearfield for 20 years, then had worked the same occupation for the Thomas Coal Company of Grampian for 17 years.
He was a member of the Banner Ridge Community Church, the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #51 in Bellefonte, and was a former member of the Mahaffey VFW and the Clearfield Sons of Italy.
On May 24, 1975 in New Millport, he wed the former Margaret Ellen "Peg" Reed who survives along with 2 sons, Robert N. Passmore of Luthersburg, and Urban E. Passmore of Watsontown. Also surviving are 3 stepchildren Roger C. Witherow and wife Mary Beth of Carnwath, Edward L. Witherow and wife Tracey of Leola, PA and Cindy Peters and husband Jay of Lusby, MD.
In addition there are 13 grandchildren, numerous great and great great grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren, 11 step great grandchildren, 4 sisters and 4 brothers: Helen Barrett of Lewisville, OH, Julia Kritzer of Woodland, Walter “Pinney” Passmore of Curwensville, Betty Miller and husband Don of Point Pleasant, NJ, Floyd Passmore and wife Bert of Minerva, OH, Edward Passmore and wife Bonnie and Ellis Passmore and wife Shirley both of Mahaffey, and Alice Soule of Canton, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents. 2 sons Dennis and David Passmore, 3 sisters Ida Passmore, Alta Peoples, and Ruth Kurtan, and a brother Charles Passmore.
Funeral Services for Mr. Passmore will be conducted at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Wednesday January 23, 2013 at 2:00 PM, with the Reverends: James Hurd, Robert Kinnan, and Gordon Snyder Co-officiating. Interment will be in the McClure Cemetery, Curwensville.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday January 22 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, and Wednesday from 12 Noon until time of services.
