Gino A. Trifelli, 75, passed away peacefully on Father’s Day, June 15, 2025, at the Allied Services Hospice Facility located in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Gino was born on October 8, 1949, as the only child to Gino M. and Tressa Trifelli, who predeceased him during his life. Gino was a dedicated husband, father, and an especially loving grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Jaqueline Trifelli. Gino is also survived by his two daughters and nine grandchildren. The oldest daughter, Stephanie (Michael) Schlude, and her children: Christopher, Kevin, and Maren Schlude reside in Mountain Top, Pennsylvania. The youngest daughter, Christina (Jared) McGill, and her children: Dane, Thatcher, Breck, Lincoln, Archer and Knox McGill reside in Lancaster, Ohio.
Gino spent the majority of his life as a proud resident of Curwenville, Pennsylvania. He attended Curwensville Area High School, graduating in 1967. He then attended Lock Haven University and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. It was there that he gained a love for computers, choosing to focus all his electives in computer programming courses. Gino married his beautiful blonde-haired, blue-eyed bride, Jackie on August 7, 1971, and they soon after moved to the greater Philadelphia area where he worked at Mobile Oil as a computer programmer for one year. He returned to Curwensville and took a position as a high school math and computer teacher in 1972. He shaped and molded the minds of high schoolers for 33 years until 2005, deciding to retire and focus on his hobbies. To this day he cherished the compliments that came from former students about how he made a difference in their education, upbringing, and readiness for the world. He also operated a home computer education company called 1-2-1 Computer Services. Gino was an active member of Rotary for many years, supported Jackie’s Women’s Club endeavors, supported the Curwensville Community Center, and enjoyed being a member of the Glen Richey Sportsman’s Association during his retirement.
Gino had a true knack for woodworking and crafts in general. He found much joy in his garage workshop filled with more tools than a hardware store could offer. Gino also loved having a small canine companion either sharing his recliner, sitting on his lap during a drive or running around the backyard chasing balls. He expected that all his dogs would be waiting for him in heaven, along with his Mother and Father, whom he has dearly missed.
Gino was diagnosed with Merkel Cell Carcinoma over ten years ago, and he battled it with vigor. He powered through every treatment option given to him by his caring medical team, despite all of the damage those treatments did to his body. A life expectancy of six to seven years was stretched to almost eleven years thanks to his Italian stubbornness, his will to fight and his medical team’s superior treatment. Gino and Jackie had recently relocated to Mountain Top, Pennsylvania to be close to Stephanie and her family for support.
The family will return home to Curwensville, Pennsylvania for funeral services.
