Obituary for Gretchen Elizabeth Faye Shank
Gretchen Elizabeth Faye Shank, 82, of Curwensville, passed away early Tuesday morning December 6, 2011 at Ridgeview Elder Care in Curwensville.
Born March 17, 1929 in Flemington, Clinton County, she was the daughter of Earl and Carrie (Wagner) Nyman. Mrs. Shank was a homemaker, had worked in the bakery for the former Super Duper Market in Clearfield, and had been an Avon Salesperson for over 30 years. She was affiliated with the Faith Bible Church in Lumber City.
She had wed Glenn H. Shank on September 16, 1949 and who preceded him in death on July 6, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter Debbie Wilt, brothers Lewis, Donald, Ardell, William, and LeRoy Nyman, and sisters Jane McCann, and Esther Patterson.
Surviving are 4 children Robert Miller and wife Carol, Deanna Smeal and her husband Tom both of Clearfield, Sara Wilt and her husband Dan of Curwensville, and Patricia Lauber and husband Larry of Canoe Creek, PA. She also raised 2 grandchildren Deanna Taylor and husband Tom and April L. Miller.
Also surviving are 11 grandchildren Robert Miller Jr., Thomas Smeal Jr., Deborah Cambria, Dianne Powell, Tim Smeal, Barb DuFour, Danette Leigey, Dan “Bud” Wilt Jr., Scott Wilt, Richard Warren, and Bryan Warren, as well as numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and a brother David Nyman and wife Myrtle of Williamsport.
Services for Mrs. Shank will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Saturday December 10, 2011 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Scott Schultz, officiating. Interment will be in the Zion Union Cemetery, Pleasant Gap, PA
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday December 9 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, and Saturday from 10 AM until time of services.
