Obituary for "Guin" Johnson
Guinivere Snyder “Guin” “Guinie” Johnson, 101, of Cocoa, FL and formerly of New Millport, passed away Tuesday May 24, 2022 at her residence in Florida.
Born August 14, 1920 in New Millport, she was the daughter of Custer and Stella (Henderson) Snyder. Mrs. Johnson had worked for the former Sylvania Manufacturing in Mill Hall, Houtzdale, and Williamsport; the former Shortway Products in Clearfield, and the former Airplane/Marine in Hyde and retired in 1985.
She was a 1937 graduate of Clearfield High School and a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Olanta. She loved to fish, work in her flower garden and crochet. She was a member of the Curwensville Women of the Moose Chapter 692, and loved to travel in a house trailer with her husband and daughter on his many bridge construction jobs and had made many friends on their travels.
On August 16, 1941 in Winchester, VA, she wed Clifford A. Johnson who preceded her in death on January 12, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Marlene Kay Shugarts; a grandson Michael Shugarts; four brothers Keever, Herschel, Walter Lyle, and Samuel Theron Snyder; and five sisters: Edna Gardner, Mariel Robbins, Leida Snyder, Alice Clare Irwin, and Chloy Snyder Kline. She was the last member of her generation.
Surviving is her son-in-law Robert Shugarts of Cocoa, FL; two granddaughters: Stacey Hadley and husband Carl and Kristi Higa, both of Merritt Island, FL; seven great grandchildren; fourteen great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces and great great nephews.
Funeral Services for Guinivere Johnson will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville PA, on Thursday June 2, 2022 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Robert A. Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the Fruit Hill Cemetery, New Millport, PA.
Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday June 1, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and again on Thursday from 10:00 AM until time of services at 11:00 AM. The Curwensville Women of the Moose will conduct their Memorial Services Wednesday at 6:00 PM
