Obituary for Harry William Proud
Harry William Proud, 91, of Glen Richey, passed away early Saturday morning July 9, 2011 at his residence.
 
Born February 6, 1920 in Lawrence Township, he was the son of George H. and Elverda (Ogden) Proud.  Mr. Proud was retired from the Clearfield Area School District as a custodian after 26 years of service.  Prior to that he had worked in construction building senior high school buildings in Philipsburg, Curwensville, and finally in Clearfield. 
 
He was a U S. Army Veteran of World War II having served with the 6th Triple A Brigade spending part of his time in the South Pacific.  He was a member of the Glen Richey Primitive Methodist Church.
 
On December 24, 1942 in Clearfield, PA, he wed the former Hazel Irene Read who preceded him in death on October 18, 2009.  He was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gordon, George, William, and Thomas Proud and sisters Pearl Irvin and Eva Proud.
 
Surviving are 2 children Kathryn Long and husband Larry of Curwensville and Edward H. Proud and wife Kathie of Clearfield.  Also surviving are 4 grandchildren Jeffrey A. Long and wife Candice of Clearfield, Jennifer McLaughlin and Husband George T. “GT” of Powhatan, VA, Megan Patrick and husband David of Clearfield, and Matthew Proud and his significant other Lindsey Clark of Lexington, KY.
 
In addition his is survived by 4 great grandchildren Brittany McLaughlin, Charlotte and Jocelyn Long and Braison Patrick as well as a brother James Proud and his wife Hollis of Greensburg, PA.
 
Funeral Services for Mr. Proud will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Tuesday July 12, 2011 at 11:00 with the Reverend Duane Stiner officiating.  Interment will be in the Bloomington Cemetery Curwensville RD.
 
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday July 11, 2011 from 4 to 8 PM, and Tuesday from 10 AM until time of services.
 
The family suggests contributions be made to the Glen Richey Primitive Methodist Church c/o Mrs. Lois Mitchell 2144 Clearfield-Glen Richey Highway Clearfield, PA  16830.
 
Military Honors will be accorded at the funeral home by members of the Clearfield Honor Guard
