Obituary for Hazel Irene Proud
Hazel Irene Proud, 83, of Glen Richey, passed away early Sunday morning October 18, 2009 at her residence after a lengthy illness.

Born May 27, 1926 in Lawrence Township, she was the daughter of Lewis and Emily (Shaw) Read.  She was a homemaker.  She was a member of the Glen Richey Primitive Methodist Church where she was Sunday School Secretary and was the former treasurer of the Ladies Aid Society.

On December 24, 1942 in Clearfield, she wed Harry William Proud who survives along with a daughter Kathryn Long and husband Larry of Curwensville and a son Edward H. Proud and his wife Kathy of Clearfield.  Also surviving are 4 grandchildren Jeffrey A. Long and wife Candice of Aldie, VA., Jennifer McLaughlin and husband George T. of Powhatan, VA., Megan Patrick and her husband David of Clearfield, and Matthew Proud of Lexington, KY.

In addition she is survived by 4 great grandchildren and a brother Max L. Read of Louisville, KY.

She was preceded in death by her parents and the following sisters and brothers.  Mrs. Alta Yeager, Mrs. Stella Post, Mrs. Doris Rowles, Clifford, Emmet, Kenneth, Homer, and Wallace Read.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Proud will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville, on Thursday October 22, 2009 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Duane Stiner officiating.  Interment will be in the Bloomington Cemetery, Curwensville RD.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday October 21, 2009 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and Thursday from 10:00 AM until time of services.
