Obituary for Helen M. Chelgren Hepburn
Helen M. (Chelgren) Hepburn 94, of Grampian passed away Wednesday January 26, 2011 at the Clearfield Hospital.
Born December 31, 1916 in Grampian, she was the daughter of Warner and Oleta (Bonsall) Chelgren. She was retired from the Postal Distribution Center in DuBois, and prior to that had worked at the Lumber City Brickyard/North American Refractories Co. and after that at the Grampian Post Office.
She was a member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church where she dedicated years of service to the church as organist and Sunday School Teacher as well as holding numerous offices in the local and district United Methodist Women.
On September 27, 1940, she wed Donald Hepburn who preceded her in death on January 4, 1983. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother Walter Chelgren and his wife Geraldine, and a brother-in-law Leslie D. Leach.
Surviving are 4 daughters Elaine Elensky and husband Ken and Susan Heitsenrether and husband David both of Grampian, Donna Lykens and husband Lee of Clearfield, and Janice Bloom and husband Gordon of Curwensville.
Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, as well as 2 sisters. Margaret Bachelier and husband Raymond of Brookville and Dorothy Leach of Curwensville.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Hepburn will be held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church Sixth Street Grampian, PA on Monday January 31, 2011 at 2:00 PM, with the Reverend Emmett Anderson officiating. Interment will be in the Friends Cemetery Grampian.
Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Sunday January 30 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, and Monday at the Church from 1 PM until time of services.
