Born December 7, 1920 in Olanta, Pike Township, she was the daughter of Asbury Lee and Artensa Mae (Swatsworth) McKee. Mrs. Norris was a homemaker, and also had worked as a waitress at the former Keystone Restaurant in Curwensville, had been a seamstress for the former Kent’s Sportswear in Curwensville and the former Clearfield Furs in Clearfield.
She was raised in the Olanta Lutheran Church and the former Bloomington United Methodist Church and was currently attending the First Baptist Church in Curwensville. She was a member of the former Olanta Grange and the GFWC New Millport Women’s Club.
Pm July 20, 1940 she wed Olen James Norris Sr. who preceded her in death on March 14, 1987. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Ruth Ann Mitchell, a son Lavoine Alan Norris, four brothers Edward Lee, Lavoine Joe, Elden Emery and Howard Clark McKee and a sister Zoe Levine. She was the last member of her generation.
Surviving are 2 sons Olen James Norris Jr. and wife Autumn of Curwensville and Dennis Eugene Norris and wife Joyce Marie of New Millport, a daughter-in-law Barbara Norris of Curwensville and a son-in-law Robert Clark Mitchell of North Carolina.
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren: David J. Mitchell, Douglas Mitchell, James Alan Norris, Ruthanna Claire Davi, Rebecca Elizabeth Wills, Jodi Lynn Shultz and husband Mark, Traci Lee Bressler, Sandi Lou Pickle, Daniel Ellis Norris and Gregory Lee Norris and 20 great grandchildren: Jacob Mitchell, Eric Mitchell, Katie Norris, Christopher Norris, Nathan Davi, Elizabeth Davi, Brady Wills, Lauren Wills, Dakota Norris, Benjamin Bumbarger, Thomas Norris, Hannah Norris, Peyton Norris, Colton Norris, Sara Lash, Nathan Lash, Joseph Shultz, Anthony Shultz, Tristan Bressler and Cole Bressler.
Funeral Services for Ida E. Norris will be held at the Curwensville First Baptist Church 1227 Susquehanna Avenue Curwensville on Tuesday July 31, 2018 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Daniel Osterhout officiating. Interment will be in the Bloomington Cemetery Curwensville.
Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Monday July 30 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and again on Tuesday at the Church from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM
