Born March 3, 1933 in Curwensville, he was the son of Stanley and Victoria (Puit) Sass. Mr. Sass had been a cutter for the former MacGregor Sportswear Factory, and had formerly built and managed three trailer parks in the Curwensville-Clearfield area.
He was a U S Naval Veteran, was a member of the Curwensville Christian Church where he had been an usher and had also had done maintenance of church vehicles (buses).
Jim was a wonderful Husband, Father, and Papa. He was a friend to everyone. Jim enjoyed life to the fullest and was full of fun. He had a joke or something funny to say to everyone and was always a joy to be around. He enjoyed traveling and vacationing with family.
On May 2, 1952 in Clearfield, he wed the former Emogene V. “Jean” Vaughn who survives along with a daughter Susan Jean Duckett and husband Michael James of Curwensville.
Also surviving are two grandchildren: Michael Stuart Duckett and wife Billie Jo of Falls Creek and Cindi Weddle of Curwensville; seven great grandchildren: Elizabeth Weddle, Allison Weddle, Joshua Hoppe, Jeremy Duckett, Mikayla Duckett, Jessica Duckett, and Samantha Duckett; and two sisters: Barbara Decker of Curwensville and Elizabeth Birchall and husband David of Bowling Green, OH; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his: Parents; four sisters: Genevieve Mock, Sylvia Knepp, Christine Czarnecki, and Veronica Shaddeck; and five brothers: John Sass, Stanley Sass, Thomas Sass, Francis “Panch” Sass, and Kenny “Bunk” Sass.
Funeral Services for James Sass, will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville, on Wednesday may 19, 2021 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend George Cannon officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Curwensville.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday May 18 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, and again on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of services at 11:00 AM.
