James L. Himes
Clearfield: James L. Himes 86 of New Millport passed away on Thursday February 5, 2009 at the Clearfield Hospital.
Born August 13, 1922 in Clarktown, Sykesville RD, he was the son of Reed Elton and Arminta Jane (Wolfgang) Himes. Mr. Himes was a welder, having been employed by the Boilermaker’s Union, Kansas City Transit Office Local. He was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in New Millport, PA.
On December 31, 1948, in Reynoldsville, he wed the former Verna Myers who survives along with 2 children. Ruth Ann Bloom and husband Rodney of Olanta and Mark James Himes and wife Dhana Lee of San Fernando City, Phillipines.
Also surviving are 8 grandchildren Mark Himes Jr., Scott Himes, Amy Doel, Aaron Himes, Christopher Bloom, James Himes, Yvonne Himes, and Aiden Himes, 20 great grandchildren, and a brother Richard Himes of DuBois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Henry, Harold, Clair, David, Earl, and Raymond, an sisters Inez Kessler and Nellie Kight.
Services for Mr. Himes will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Friday February 13 at 8:00 PM, with Pastor Richard Steuernagle officiating. Interment will be in the Fruit Hill Cemetery, New Millport, RD.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 PM until time of services
