Obituary for Jim McCartney
James Michael McCartney, 71, of Walltown, passed away Thursday August 11, 2022 at Penn Highlands Hospital – DuBois, after a brief illness.
Born November 15, 1950 in DuBois, he was the son of James Michael and Edith (Simmons) McCartney. Mr. McCartney was retired from Preston Trucking Co as a professional truck driver and he also was an owner/operator of his own truck, prior to Preston’s. Prior to truck driving, he was a heavy equipment operator for the former McDonald Land and Mining Co. He was a U S Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was a beautiful guitar player and singer. He enjoyed playing and listening to Country and Blue Grass music. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an artist who created beautiful outdoor scenes. He loved his family, friends and had a special way with animals “Animal Whisperer”.
He was kind, loving, truthful, and always was great at story telling. Was an avid reader and was always learning new things. He loved to be surrounded by his nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and always had a way with words, especially when it came to politics.
Surviving are three children: Douglas McCartney and wife Marti Jo and Jeffery McCartney both of Grampian, and Jill McCartney of the Philippines; and three grandchildren: A.J. Wilt, Haden McCartney, and Evan McCartney.
Also surviving are eight siblings: Beatrice Anderson and husband Andrew, Teresa Kennis and husband Greg, Dennis McCartney and wife Elma, Marge Kennis and husband Ron, Karen Taylor and husband Rob, Amy Tucker and husband Lance, Jean Levin and husband Scott, and Edward McCartney and wife Maria; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral Services for James McCartney Jr. will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Monday evening August 15, 2022 at 7:00 PM, with the Reverend Lance Tucker officiating. Interment will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Grampian.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Military Honors will be accorded at the funeral home by members of the Clearfield Honor Guard.
The family suggests Memorial Contributions in James name be given to: The Cove Drop-in Center * 301 S. Brady Street * DuBois, PA 15801. Please make checks payable to V.T.D.C.
