Obituary for Joan D. Olson
Joan D. Olson, 86, of Curwensville, passed away Saturday January 12, 2019 at Ridgeview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Curwensville.
Born October 2, 1932 in Clearfield, she was the daughter of Gerald and Rema (Caldwell) Fister. Mrs. Olson had first worked as a telephone operator in the former Curwensville Office and was retired from the Clearfield County Courthouse in the Assessment Office.
She was a member of the Curwensville Presbyterian Church where she had been an Elder, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Presbyterian Women. She also volunteered at the Curwensville Public Library.
On December 27, 1952 in Clearfield, she wed Richard E. “Dick” Olson who preceded her in death on March 19, 1976. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 2 sons Robert Olson and Ronald Olson; and a brother Leslie Fister.
Surviving are 3 children: Rebecca “Becky” Baroni and husband Tom, Gerald “Jerry” Olson and wife Kimberly, Lois Francisco and husband Randy and a daughter-in-law Deb Olson, all of Curwensville. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and a sister Barbara Waddell of DuBois.
Funeral Services for Joan Olson will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Wednesday January16, 2019 at 2:00 PM, with the Reverend Stephen D. Shields officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday January 15 from 4 to 7 PM and again on Wednesday from 12:00 Noon until time of services at 2 PM.
The family suggests contributions be made to either the Curwensville Lions Club Hearing Aid program c/o 300 State Street Curwensville, PA 16833 or the Curwensville Public Library 601 Beech Street Curwensville, PA 16833.
