Obituary for Joanne M. Giffin
Joanne M. Giffin, 82, of Curwensville, passed away Thursday May 16, 2013 at the DuBois Village in DuBois.

Born September 26, 1930 in Alexandria, PA, she was the daughter of Roland S. and Eleanor Grace (Spyker) Mickey. She was a graduate of Juniata Valley High School and attended Huntingdon Secretarial School. She had been employed first as a bookkeeper/secretary for the Alexandria Robison Clay Products, then for the Penn State University Purchasing Department, next for Curwensville Construction Co. and finally for her husband’s private engineering consulting business.

She was an active member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Curwensville where she was active in the Church Council and the Women of the ELCA. She was a member of the past president of the GFWC Curwensville Woman’s Club, the Nittany Lion Club, and an associate member of the Penn State Alumni Association.

On August 11, 1950 In Alexandria, she wed Robert H, Giffin, who preceded her in death on April 15, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Surviving are 3 children: son Thomas M. Giffin and wife Cynthia of Manlius, NY and their children Joel Giffin and wife Jade and their son Van Giffin, Aaron Giffin and wife Jess and Leah Giffin; son Roger L. Giffin of Carlisle and his significant other Joan Lineweaver of Marim Heights; and daughter Paula A. Giffin and her husband William Davies of Treasure Lake and their son Nathan. Also surviving is a sister Linda Scialabba and her husband Richard of Huntingdon.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Giffin will be held at the Grace Lutheran Church in Curwensville, on Monday May 20, 2013 at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Richard Steuernagle officiating. Interment will be in the Alexandria Presbyterian Cemetery in Alexandria, PA

Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Sunday May 19 from 4 to 7 PM, and Monday at the church from 10:30 AM until time of services.
