John A. “Bloomy” Bloom
Clearfield: John A. “Bloomy” Bloom, 74, of Grampian passed away Monday April 6, 2026 at Colonial Courtyard of Clearfield.
Born February 13, 1952 in Philipsburg he was the son of James H. and M. Marie (Caldwell) Bloom. He was a Curwensville High School graduate. He had worked at Spencer Hardware and Thomas Coal Company as a heavy equipment operator. In 1977 he started Grampian Hardware and Appliance, which he owned and operated for 46 years until his retirement in 2023.
He was a member of the Grampian Lion’s Club, Curwensville Masonic Lodge #480, Jaffa Shrine Altoona, PA, Royal Order of Jesters Court 70, Jaffa Oriental Band, and Clearfield Shriners Club
On July 6, 1973 in Bells Landing he wed Cheryll (Sherry) Lines Bloom who survives of Grampian, along with a daughter Stacy Best of Grampian. Granddaughter Jaci Best (Matthew McBride) of Grampian. And an expected great grandchild. Three sisters Carol Hahn (Kenneth) of Warren, PA, Alice Coke (Damon) of Arlington, TN, and Lois Carns (James Sr.) of Grampian, PA. And numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Daniel Bloom.
Funeral Services for John Bloom will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc of Curwensville on Friday April 10, 2026 at 11 AM with Rev. Rick Butler officiating. Interment will be in the Friends Cemetery in Grampian.
Family and Friends will be received at the Funeral Home on Thursday April 9, 2026 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. And on Friday from 10 AM until the time of service at 11 AM. A Masonic service will be conducted at the Funeral Home on Thursday April 9, 2026, at 5:30 PM.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Grampian Lions Club, Curwensville Masonic Lodge #480, or any local charity of the donor’s choice.
