John F. Curley
Clearfield: John F. Curley 89, of Clearfield passed away Saturday February 10, 2024 at Penn Highlands Clearfield.
Born April 22, 1934 in Clearfield he was the son of Roy and Virginia (Johnston) Curley. He was a 1953 graduate of Clearfield Area High School. He was a United States Army Veteran. John retired from the United Postal Service after 33 years of service where he served as Postmaster working in Bilger, Philipsburg, and California for the Postal Service.
He attended Centre Grove United Methodist Church, and was an avid golfer and bowler. He was a member of Clearfield Elks BPOE #540
On June 6, 1957 at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church he wed Violet (Schonwalder) Curley who survives of Clearfield, along with a daughter Linda Troupe (Daniel) Penfield, and a son Robert Curley of Clearfield. Two Grandchildren Michael Folmar Clearfield and Samantha Folmar of Curwensville. And a great granddaughter RaeLynn Hurd of Curwensville.
He was the last member of his generation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Betty Brown, and brothers Preston, Paul, and Richard Curley.
Family and friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc of Curwensville on Friday February 16, 2024 from 2-4 PM.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Centre Grove United Methodist Church 1100 Village Road, Clearfield, PA 16830.
