Obituary for John Darmiento
John Darmiento, 82, of Curwensville, passed away Tuesday May 8, 2012 at his residence.
Born July 22, 1929 in Newburg, NY, he was the son of Joseph John and Francis (Scime) Darmiento. Mr. Darmiento had served with the U S Air Force for 13 years serving during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and was discharged as a master sergeant. He was a member of St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville.
He had worked as a Bailiff for the Monmouth County, NJ Sheriff’s Dept., had worked for Lilly-Tulip Co. a division of Owens-Illinois Corp., and had also worked for the U S Department of Immigration and Naturalization.
Surviving is his wife the former Mildred “Millie” Vail of Curwensville, 2 sons and a daughter. John Darmiento Jr. of Curwensville, and Terry Kendal and her husband Douglas and Robert Hickman both of Oakhurst, NJ and a granddaughter Kasi Tozer of Olanta.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Janet Piercey in 2011.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church Walnut Street Curwensville on Tuesday may 15, 2012 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Father Mark J. Mastrian as Celebrant. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.
Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Monday May 14, 2012 from 6 to 8 PM, and Tuesday morning from 9:00 to 9:30 AM, when the procession will depart for the church.
Military Honors will be accorded at the church by members of the Clearfield American Legion and Clearfield VFW Joint Honor Guard.
A Scripture Vigil Services will be conducted Monday evening at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family in care of the Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. 300 State St. Curwensville, PA 16833.
