Obituary for John Mitchell "Big John" & "Butch" Brock
John Mitchell “Big John” “Butch” Brock, 74, of Curwensville, passed away Monday February 18, 2019 at his residence.
Born October 29, 1044 in Curwensville, he was the son of Virgil and Verna (Lash) Brock. Mr. Brock was a dock worker having worked for the Bayer Clothing Group, Target Sportswear at the Fletcherville Plant. He was a member of St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville.
On February 14, 1987 in Curwensville, he wed the former Imogene Schriver who survives along with 7 children: Laurie Munz and husband Raymond of VA, Michele Hedglin and husband Dennis of Grampian, Buffie Traylor and husband Steven of Clearfield, John Brock and wife Becky of NY, Michelle Cain of Clearfield, Dawn Aughenbaugh and husband Raymond of Curwensville and Patricia Brock of DuBois.
Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, a brother and 2 sisters: Joseph Brock and wife Mary Ann and Deborah DuFour both of Curwensville and Pamela Barbin of Altoona as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother James Brock, and infant sister Dorothy Brock and an infant granddaughter Alyssa Brick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville on Saturday February 23, 2019 at 10:30 AM, with Reverend Father A. Stephen Collins as Celebrant. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park in Hyde.
Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Friday February 22, 2019 from 5 to 8 PM and again on Saturday from 9:00 AM until 10 AM, when the procession will depart for the church.
The Rosary will be recited by members of St. Timothy’s Altar and Rosary Society Friday afternoon at 4:45 PM at the funeral home.
